New Idea

At first the idea for the documentary for to concentrate on the story of Covstock and the backstage story of the making of that event. But when researching deeper into the story of main promoter of the event, John Oliver, we found there was a better and more personal story we could concentrate on that had more soul.

With the pressure and stress of Covstock, John suffered a heart attack days after the event. Luckly he made a full recovery, however he gave up promoting gigs (something he had a real passion for and had being doing for years) Instead he set up his dream business which was providing merchandise and rehearsal rooms for bands. A nice touch of the story is that after the heart attack John struggled to open his business The Sound Foundry on time, so most of the Covstock musicians came down one day and surprised him by finishing off the painting of the building.

These day’s The Sound Foundry is doing well and John is even starting to help promote big gigs like he used to. The best part of the story is that recently John was asked to design the Michael Jackson award by the Jackson family (to which they were very pleased with the result) and has even meet one of the Jackson brothers to do a deal where John will provide the merchandise for the Jacksons up coming tour.

So the heart of this story and the focus point of our documantary is from “the gig that nearly killed him” John has recovered and doing even better because of his work at Covstock.

We pitched this new idea to the Green group and it was well recieved. The next stage is production.
